Description
What is Buckwheat?
Buckwheat is a plant cultivated for its grain-like groats, which are small, crunchy and have a distinctly triangular appearance. Buckwheat is a staple in Central and Eastern European diets.
While many people think that buckwheat is a cereal grain, it is actually a fruit seed, related to rhubarb and sorrel. This means that buckwheat doesn't produce gluten as its not closely related to wheat or other similar species!
What are Buckwheat Grits?
Energising and nutritious (naturally without gluten!) buckwheat grits can be served as an alternative to porridge.
Why Should I Get Organic Buckwheat Grits?
Buckwheat is exceptionally nutritional, surpassing all equivalent grains, it is a very good source of manganese and a good source of copper, magnesium, dietary fibre and phosphorus.
Buckwheat is fast becoming a staple superfood worldwide, similarly to Quinoa Grain. The protein in buckwheat is a high quality balanced protein, containing all eight essential amino acids, including lysine. This makes Buckwheat one of few plants capable of producing a true "Complete" Protein (just like the protein found in meat) drawing even more similarities to Quinoa grain!
