Buckwheat
Buckwheat is a naturally gluten-free pseudocereal with an earthy, nutty flavour – despite the name, it contains no wheat at all. It is also one of the few plant foods with complete protein (all nine essential amino acids), along with magnesium and fibre. We stock it in every form, in organic and everyday options:
Whole groats: a firm, satisfying chew that holds up in cooking. Toast them in a dry pan for classic kasha, or simmer them in broth as an alternative to rice or couscous. Also available roasted, and as grits.
Flakes: rolled thin so they cook in minutes – a direct swap for oats in porridge, granola and energy bites.
Flour: finely milled and aromatic, the traditional base for Breton galettes, blinis and pancakes.
A solid, naturally gluten-free staple for breakfasts, bakes and side dishes.
