What Is Diatomaceous Earth?
Diatomaceous Earth is naturally occurring, made from fossilised remains of tiny, aquatic organisms called diatoms.
Diatomaceous Earth is a Vegan product
The diatoms compose of a natural substance called silica, combine this with their small size and you get an especially abrasive powder that is entirely non-toxic with many useful properties, especially as a natural, safe, pest remover.
Why Should I Get Diatomaceous Earth?
If you own cats and dogs there is a good chance that you have experienced the difficulty that is ridding them of fleas. Diatomaceous Earth makes it a lot easier, as it scratches the fleas, causing them to die before they could breed further. To achieve this all you have to do is sprinkle it around the house, preferably the carpet where the fleas are most likely hiding, a small amount will work just fine. Leave it alone for 3 days before vacuuming* the carpet thoroughly and you will have naturally thwarted the flea menace, without the use of toxic chemicals on your upholstery or even worse your beloved pets!
It's not just fleas you can control with Diatomaceous Earth either. It can target cockroaches, spiders, ants, as well as bedbugs. Like before, just sprinkle it on your bed in the morning and hoover in the evening, repeat as necessary.
Another excellent use for diatomaceous earth is in shampoo. You can try adding it with your regular shampoo or perhaps sprinkling some in your hair and massaging it through the scalp. If you have lice, the routine introduction of it will kill the lice permanently. Make sure to wash it off at the end of the day, thoroughly rinsing it out before reapplication.
