Description

What is Organic Almond Flour?

Almonds grow in a shell that leaves a residue and skin on the outside of the meat. When the skin is removed, in a process called blanching, the result is a skinless, white almond, with less bitter qualities. The skinned almonds are then further ground into a powder/flour known for its sweetness or more specifically its especially distinct "Marzipan" flavour.

Better still Almonds (Like all nuts) do not contain any gluten, making almond Flour a fantastic substitute for other gluten-containing flours.

It should come as no surprise, Given its creamy taste, that Almond flour is especially suitable for making baked goods and confectionaries, however, the flour can be absolutely awesome added to thicken smoothies, or sprinkled over your breakfast cereal, for some extra nutritional sweetness!

Almond flour is just one of many varieties available however, with other popular preparations being Blanched, Flaked and Whole, but It certainly doesn't stop there as you can get Almond Butters, Almond Pastes and my favourite - Almond Milk which is a delicious beverage, being a more nutritious and Dairy Free alternative to cow's milk!

Why Should I Get Organic Almond Flour?

Organic Almond Flour adds richness and complex flavour to a range of recipes, from meats and fish to sweets. Ground Almonds will give baked goods a moist, dense crumb, though they will be slightly more fragile, so be sure to let baked goods rest for a short period of time outside the oven, before attempting to turn them out of their pans.

What Ground Almonds do not do is, surprisingly, add a lot of almond flavour, at least not an overwhelming amount. This means it's perfectly reasonable to use Ground Almonds in place of refined white flour in your recipes, which is actually very common in medieval cooking.

Still though Almonds Are Almonds and regardless of preparation these are still rich source of fatty acids, which help to reduce the levels of bad cholesterol (LDL cholesterol), and promote healthy skin and hair. Reducing cholesterol only accounts for half of the almonds nutritional arsenal as they are a fantastic source of many vitamins and minerals, such as manganese, copper and Riboflavin which support energy production and metabolic rate.

To finish Almonds also contain two vital brain nutrients, riboflavin and L-carnitine which are often difficult to get from other dietary sources. The consumption of almonds is a highly recommended way of increasing your intake of these brain Nutrients.
