What Is Organic Spelt Grain?
Spelt is an ancient grain widely recognised for its many health benefits. Triticum spelta, the scientific name for spelt, is a hardier and more nutritious cousin to modern wheat (Triticum aestivum), some taxonomists classify spelt as a parent of wheat.
It is One of the earliest domesticated grains, and hasn't changed since Biblical times; It remains unaffected by concepts such as agribusiness, cross-breeding, hybridization and genetically modified; words that have come to dominate our modern food supply.
Our Spelt grain is in its de-hulled, whole grain form (often referred to as spelt berries), In addition to spelt Grain which can be prepared and enjoyed like rice, Spelt flour is popular and can be substituted for modern common wheat flour to make diet specific baked goods. If baking isn't your craft of choice you're not limiting yourself as you can also purchase many other ready-made spelt products such as: breads, pasta, cookies, crackers, cakes, muffins, cereals, pancakes and waffles.
Why Should I Get Organic Spelt Grain?
Spelt has a slightly nuttier and sweeter flavour than conventional Wheat Grain, it is higher in protein, fibre, B vitamins, and is more easily digested. As such Spelt has long been popular as a health food, given its broad spectrum of nutrients, including complex carbohydrates, sugar, soluble and insoluble fibre, sodium, fatty acids, amino acids and more!
Spelt is also high in manganese, thiamine, copper, magnesium and to top it all off because spelt is highly water soluble, these nutrients are absorbed by the body easily and efficiently.
