Preparing homemade facemasks is one of the best ways to ensure you know exactly what you are putting on your face. DIY face masks can be cheaper than store-bought, it helps the environment by reducing plastic packaging and it's easy enough to make. As DE is thoroughly ground into a fine powder it makes for a gentle face mask. In addition to silica DE also contains abundant trace minerals such as calcium, magnesium and zinc. Since minerals can be absorbed through the skin, this is a perfect way for healthy minerals to be absorbed into the body whilst the DE absorbs and eliminates toxins.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon of Diatomaceous Earth

Milk, aloe vera gel or diluted in honey to make a paste with a thick consistency
Directions
In a small pot or bowl, add the Diatomaceous Earth
Mix with either milk, aloe vera gel or diluted in honey to make a paste with a thick consistency.
Lightly massage the paste onto your face using small, circular motions.
Allow the paste to set for 1-2 minutes
Gently remove with a warm washcloth.
This last stage is when most of the exfoliation occurs.
Pat your skin dry and apply your preferred toner (should you make use of one) and moisturise
