Description
What Is Giant Cous cous?
The original name may be derived from the Arabic word Kaskasa, meaning "to pound small" or the Berber Seksu, meaning "well rolled", "well-formed", or "rounded". Israeli couscous, Giant Couscous, is similar to regular couscous in that it's a small, whole grain-like food made from semolina or wheat flour. Because of its size, Israeli couscous or known as Giant Couscous, has a slightly chewy texture, similar to barley, and, because it's toasted, it has a slightly savoury flavour.
Why Should I Get Giant Cous Cous ?
It has a light, fluffy texture, which is a little bland in flavour, which makes it perfect to soak up flavours of other ingredients.
Couscous can substitute bulgur wheat to make a breakfast tabbouleh salad, but it is great in all sorts of salads. It pairs perfect with lean meats and soups. Though usually cooked in water, it can also be cooked in another liquid, like apple juice, and served with dried fruit and honey.
A 1 cup serving of couscous provides only 176 calories, which is 8% of a standard 2,000 calorie diet. This is far less than the calories that a cup of rice or quinoa holds, which provide 205 and 254 calories per cup, respectively.
Giant Cous Cous is Natural, GMO - Free, Vegans, and Dairy Free, No Added Sugar
