A hearty black bean burger with lots of flavour. Plant- based, can be made gluten free, and super easy to make. Think fast-food not junk food.

Ingredients

300g Black Beans
-
1/2 Cup Sunflower Seeds

2/3 Cup Oats (can be gluten free)

1tbsp Tomato paste

1 1/2 tbsp Soy sauce or Tamari Sauce

3 Minced garlic cloves
-
1/2 large onion
-
3 flax eggs (3 tbsp ground flax + 9tbsp water

2 tsp Onion powder
-
2 tsp Smoked paprika
-
1/2 tsp Ground cumin
-
1/4 tsp Red pepper flakes
-
3/4 tsp Sea salt
-
Black pepper to taste
-
3 tbsp Fresh Parsley
Directions
PREP WARNING- Black beans must be soaked overnight or for at least 6 hours before being used
Bring water to a boil in a saucepan add the beans and cook until soft, drain and rinse beans in a sieve and pat dry
Mix the ground linseed with water in a small bowl
Set aside for 5 minutes to thicken
Add oats and sunflower seeds into food processor and pulse
Add all other ingredients into food processor
pulse until combined - be sure to maintain texture (4-6 pulses should be enough)
Take mixture into lightly oiled hands and form into patties
If mixture is too dry add water, if too sticky add more oats as needed
add a some oil into a frying pan, heat over medium heat
Add the patties
Fry on both sides until firm, about 6-7 minutes per side.
Assemble patties with choice fresh ingredients a toasted bun and boom, you're done. Enjoy :)
Recipe Note
Add a Sriracha or BBQ glaze to the patties after frying for an added kick of flavour.
